The home to this year’s Verve Poetry Festival is the Old Rep Theatre on Station Street in Birmingham city centre. Now in its third year, the festival is a treat for lovers of poetry and the spoken word.
Verve is a little different to what you’d expect from a literature festival. Hear poets from the Midlands, the UK and beyond! Get creative by attending one of the workshops aimed at all levels, listen to award-winning poets or even brave the open mic slot in Poetry Parlour. The festival is jam-packed with entertainment and performances including poetry and singing; Punjabi folk; African literature; and a discussion about the making of Owen Sheers’ film poem about the National Health Service. Plus much, much more!
Running for four consecutive days, there is a choice of passes to attend as well as concessionary tickets. Whether you’re a seasoned festival goer or a “newbie”, this friendly, down to earth event has something for everyone.
