The Grand Launch of The Grey Lantern 2020 and nearby car parking

Did someone say The Grey Lantern? It’s all the buzz!

Birmingham’s upcoming indie rock bar, the hotspot for live music is opening its doors on Friday 13 March 2020 with performances by Idle Noise and Parade. The exclusive night will be featuring Paul Draper, formerly known as Mansun, from whose debut album The Grey Lantern has been inspired. However, from Saturday 14 March 2020 you and everyone you know can officially be part of a new era in Birmingham, The Grey Lantern has plenty in store for you! The new cornerstone of The Priory Queensway will also host club nights, afternoon acoustic sessions and even comedy!

The Grey Lantern will replace the heavy metal venue Hammer & Anvil on Priory Queensway near the Tony Hancock statue and hope to be a nexus for up and coming musicians. As it undergoes a refurb, it is said to have an upstairs bar in daytime and an open basement for gigs in the evenings and is expected to accommodate 120 people.

Owner Alan Barley had a few words to say about the new venue, “I know a lot of bands and want to help them by giving them somewhere to play.

There are so many bands in this area and I can see Birmingham becoming the next Liverpool or Manchester, so I want to be a part of that and to help out.

We’ll mostly have indie bands on but there will be things like 90s nights and if people want heavy metal then we’ll have that as well.”

The Grey Lantern will surely become the go to space for live music fans and just a great way to kick back, listen and enjoy!
