Peter Pan at The Rep, Birmngham and convenient car parking

TICK! TOCK! I think we can all agree, adulthood isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. That’s why Peter Pan decided to stay in Neverland!

But this December Neverland is coming to you! Liam Steel is bringing everyone’s favourite classic story of the boy who didn’t want to grow up to The REP! Yes it’s Peter Pan, his trusted fairy Tinkerbell and the mischievous lost boys. Meanwhile in downtown Birmingham, Wendy and her little brothers will, much to their surprise, be going on an awfully big adventure.

Conceived and directed by multi-award winning director and choreographer Liam Steel, adapted by Georgia Christou and Liam Steel from the original play and book by J.M. Barrie, Steel has created a thrilling, re-imagined version of Peter Pan specifically for Birmingham audiences. With everyone’s favourite characters except with a few surprise twists, Steel has transposed it from its original setting in London 1904 to Birmingham 2019, making the characters much more relatable and relevant for a modern day audience.

Steel added, “For children encountering the story for the first time, I want them to feel this was how the characters were originally written, and for those who know the story well, then I want them to experience it with the joy of re-discovery, as though they are hearing it for the very first time all over again.”

Expect to see spectacular flying, incredible sets on a much larger scale, ingenious puppetry, out of this world costumes and of course a giant man eating crocodile. Audiences can expect to see one of the most visually spectacular Christmas shows ever to grace The REP’s stage.

But there’s danger lurking around every corner with malicious mermaids, feisty fairies and the devious Captain Hook, who is plotting on Skull Island with a band of fearsome pirates. Can Wendy defeat them to save her new-found friends?

Following last year’s acclaimed retelling of The Wizard Of Oz, director Liam Steel brings the classic Peter Pan story into the twenty-first century. This new Birmingham-set version will make you fall in love with the family favourite all over again.

Do you believe in fairies…?
