Festivals in Birmingham and where to park in the city centre

As the year progresses you may be wondering how you can spend the forthcoming long summer days.  Perhaps one option is a festival.  There seems to be a festival for everything nowadays!  From art and film to coffee and food – there’s something to suit all interests.

We’ve had a quick scout round the internet to see what city centre festivals Birmingham has on offer in 2019.

Flatpack Festival
30 April – 5 May 2019

Flatpack is back for its 13th festival.  Its diverse and easy-going atmosphere attracts talent from across the UK and beyond.   A packed menu explores the full range of film with themes such as animation, music, artists’ film, archive discoveries, offbeat shorts for kids and live cinema.

You can expect a varied choice of events, screenings, exhibitions, installations and parties.  The festival began as the legendary 7 Inch Cinema mixed-media nights at the Rainbow in Digbeth and has quickly grown to include a number of venues across Birmingham.  Visit flatpackfestival.org.uk for further details.

B-Side Hip Hop Festival
10 – 12 May 2019

This FREE Hip Hop festival returns once again to Birmingham Hippodrome in May.  In its fourth year, you can immerse yourself in dance and music performances, participate in or watch dance battles and see graffiti art being created before your eyes – all to the sounds of the festival from live DJs.  With appearances from the best national and international artists and some of the city’s finest Hip Hop talents it’s sure to be another exciting event!

Birmingham Coffee Festival
7 – 9 June 2019

The Custard Factory, Digbeth plays host to the Birmingham Coffee Festival in June.  The festival celebrates the coffee bean and is a perfect way to socialise with like-minded people and tantatlise your senses. Exhibitors will include independent coffee houses and speciality roasters.   Sample coffee and food from around the world, taste new blends or perhaps even treat yourself to a coffee machine!

BE Festival
2 – 6 July 2019

BE FESTIVAL is a week-long celebration of culture, bringing the best of European performance to Birmingham.  It takes place at The Birmingham Repertory Theatre which gets taken over for works from the continent spanning 20 shows. Crossing borders, creative disciplines and blurring the boundary between audience and artist, it turns the idea of conventional theatre on its head!

Colmore Food Festival
5 & 6 July 2019

Each July the Colmore Food Festival showcases the superb food and drink offering in Birmingham’s business quarter, Colmore Business District (CBD).

Held in Victoria Square from 11am – 7pm, the event is FREE and, once you’re at the Festival, you won’t pay more than £4 for taster plates of food.  This annual celebration of Colmore Business District’s restaurants, bars, cafes and hotels also has fine wines, champagne, cocktails, craft beers and artisan coffees and cakes.  With 36 exhibitors there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Summer in Southside
13 – 14 July 2019

This year, the free annual festival hosted by Birmingham Hippodrome explores the wonders of outer space.  Celebrating 50 years since the first moon landings, the streets of Southside around the theatre will be transformed into a lunar landscape for a whole weekend packed with performances, installations and extra-terrestrial antics from a list of ‘out of this world’ acts.

Birmingham Weekender
27 – 29 September 2019

A packed weekend of FREE outdoor theatre, music, art installations and performance across the city-centre is on offer as the award-winning Birmingham Weekender returns.  Covering all areas of the city centre, the festival will feature well-known local arts organisations and invited international artists, including a number of significant new commissions. The city’s streets, shops and squares will come alive to entertain and delight all the family.

CAR PARKING at B4 Car Park

You might decide to travel in to the city on the bus or train, but what if you’d rather drive?  Where can you park? With easy access off the A38(M), the entrance to B4 car park is on Weaman Street B4 6DG.

Driving means you can choose what time you travel, you don’t have to travel light and if you park at B4 you don’t have to rush back to your car before the car park shuts because B4 is always open – 24 hours a day!

You don’t have to try and work out how long you’re going to be parked for, because you pay on return and we accept cash or card.  There’s no need to carry a ticket or token because we use your vehicle registration number to calculate your parking charge.

B4 has lifts to all levels and toilet and baby change facilities on the ground floor. Staff are available if you need any assistance.
