Where the world of augmented reality is intertwined with medicine, Czech innovation Expo Exhibition (CIE) combines the two fields into one great exhibition. This interactive exhibition introduces prominent scientists, thinkers and innovators, whose essential discoveries and inventions have influenced the lives of millions of people around the world and will continue to do so for years to come.
Through state-of-the-art technologies and virtual reality, embark on a journey of discovery of some of the world’s most leading innovations such as the inventors of the contact lens and HIV drug treatment. Among the greats, Otto Wichterle, whose invention of the soft contact lens was revolutionary as it had a number of advantages over the then used hard contact lenses, and Antonín Holý, who succeeded in transferring laboratory preparations to pharmaceutical drugs used in the treatment of HIV/AIDS.
Zuzana Holubcová was the first scientist in the world to videotape what happens inside the human egg during the time it prepares for fertilisation, contributing to the greater success of artificial fertilisation. Then there is Bohdan Pomahač whose medical team in 2011 was the first to perform a full face transplant.
All are presented in the exhibition together with representatives of the latest innovations in digital technology and medicine.
The interactive exhibition uses cutting-edge technology to take you back to the centuries-old history of the Czech Republic in science, research and innovation while revealing the endless possibilities of the digital and creative potential and development in the Czech Republic.
What makes this exhibition one of a kind is its deceivingly simple lay out. Visitors are welcomed into an open space of mainly empty walls with abstract markings and symbols and still objects dotted across the floor. Based on interconnection of interactive audiovisual art, design and digital augmented reality technology, visitors just need to download the CIE AR iOS or an Android application to their smart devices, and then they are ready and prepped to explore and discover a variety of stories and information about a scientific discovery or innovation. With the devices pointed towards a particular symbol, the story will begin to unfold onto their very screens! Magic!
CIE is brought to you by the Czech Centres network together with the Czech Academy of Sciences and was opened to the public in October 2019 to mark the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Czech Velvet Revolution. The Expo will be running until February 2020.
CIE has been most popular in countries across the world and is now coming to Birmingham. This is a virtual experience you don’t want to miss. For all those aspiring future scientists, innovators and keen learners, this is a dimension worth stepping into!
